Great Value Colleges Community Service Scholarship:
Deadline: July 15th (Fall), November 15th (Spring)
Amount: $1,500
***Must be attending or accepted at an accredited post-secondary U.S. institution (undergraduate or graduate)
Awardee will be selected based on the strength of the community service project (and their involvement) as described in their essay, and the significance of the connection between the community service and their education.
Voice of Democracy:
Deadline: November 1st
Amount: $30,000 (National First Place Winner)
Other amounts: $1,000-$16,000
***Must be grades 9-12
The VFW established the Voice of Democracy program (VOD) in 1947 to provide students grades 9-12 the opportunity to express themselves in regards to democratic ideas and principles. 

The national first-place winner receives a $30,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient's American university, college or vocational/technical school. Other national scholarships range from $1,000-$16,000, and the first-place winner from each (state) VFW Department wins a minimum scholarship of $1,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.

Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarship:
Deadline: December 5th
Amount: $5,000
Five national scholarship awards are offered annually. An additional 20 non-scholarship regional awards are offered annually. . Each student selected as a Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarship recipient will receive a $5,000 scholarship, as well as a $5,000 grant made in his/her name to the hunger-related charity of his/her choice in his/her local community. 
AXA Achievement Scholarship:
Deadline: Begins in the Fall
Amount: $10,000
Can also win an additional $15,000
***Must be a high school senior
The AXA Achievement Scholarship is awarded to 52 students nationwide - one selected from each state, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. Each state winner receives a scholarship award of $10,000. From that pool of 52 winners, ten are selected as national winners and receive an additional $15,000, bringing the national AXA Achievers' total scholarship awards to $25,000 each.
Alliant Energy:
Deadline: Begins in December
Amount: $1,000

Up to 25 $1,000 scholarships are awarded to students annually through the Alliant Energy Community Service Scholarship Program. Award selection is based on participation in a leadership role in community service activities and volunteer work; academic grade point average; standardized test scores; and the content of a 300-word essay submission.

Jesse Brown Scholarship: 
Amount: $20,000

Named after former National Service Officer and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jesse Brown, this award honors the memory of a DAV leader dedicated to serving veterans through recognition of those who carry on his legacy of service. Each year, one outstanding applicant receives the top scholarship in the amount of $20,000 to help fund their higher education. Additional scholarships are awarded in the amounts of $15,000, $10,000, $7,500 & $5,000.
